Orientation Newsletter

Dear Families,

Welcome to kindergarten!  I am very excited to meet everyone and am looking forward to a great year with your child.  The children were excited this morning as they took part in their first morning meeting.  They were welcomed into their new classroom with a song, story and coloring activity.  I enjoyed starting to get to know my new students and beginning to build our classroom community.  Nancy Bromley will be our classroom paraeducator this year and Jackie Champlin will join in our fun.

Here are some things that may help your child get a smooth start on his/her new school adventure:

• Please provide a snack and lunch with beverage for your child every day.  Milk or juice and snack may be purchased from the cafeteria and water is always available in our classroom.  Chocolate milk is available on Wednesdays.  Please use the envelopes provided by the cafeteria for purchasing beverages and/or lunches.
• On Monday we will be going to Music with Mrs. Sarah Bolio-Gillespie.   
• On Tuesday we will have  Library with Mrs. Kim Burroughs.  Please help your child to remember his/her book every week on this day.
• Wednesday and Friday will be our Physical Education days with Mr.    Glenn Steinman.  Please help your child to wear or bring sneakers on these days and to wear comfortable clothing.
• On Thursday we will go to Spanish with Mr. Thodd VanAllen.
• On Friday we will be going to Spanish with Sra. Daisy Rena.
• Accidents happen on occasion.  We seem to have a lot of spills in kindergarten, so please send in a spare set of clothing for your child to keep in his/her cubby.  We do have a limited supply to borrow, but most children feel more comfortable in their own clothing.

I will be sending a newsletter home soon with more details about our classroom.  If you have a question, comment, or concern about your child, you may contact me at school at 899-2272 or for an urgent matter, at home 899-2907 before 7:30 p.m., please.
