Dear Families,
Here are some brief highlights from the week:
Reading- letter name, keyword and sound for all
          26, blending, segmenting, substitutions
        - sight word I, a, we, is, the, said, can, to
         environmental print, digraphs (sh, th, ch, wh),
         Vowel team ea.
        -guided reading, fluency, beginning, middle, end
        -concepts of print, reading buddies, storybook
        reading, rereading using a storyteller voice,
        using book and connecting language,
        retelling, 1-1 correspondence (one tap per
        word-even kryptonite words) picture power,
        pointer power, partner power, perseverance
        power, letter power, reread power.
  Math- simple addition, writing numerals, Ten Frames.
       Identifying numerals through games, number
       word after, number books, counting backwards
       10-1 and 17-1, counting by 10’s and by 1’s to 100,
       comparing length and quantity, measuring,
       length, shortest, longest, equal, finger patterns
       1-20.
Writing- table captains, writing routines, how to find
        tools, when you are done you have just begun,
         K-Daily News, adding to pictures and words,
         writing partners, word stretching, adding
         details, perseverance for the tricky words,
         looking closely and writing like scientists.
         (using precise language), drawing like
         scientists, using mentor texts to write
         our own books.
Social Studies- role play problem solving, asking for
         help, friendship skills, share bag, similarities
         and differences, hat day.      
Science-Weather watching, fall is here, 5 senses, sense
          Of smell, smells we like and dislike.          

Rain and darkness, kids are asking for naps!  It has been a very exciting week with the excitement of Halloween, hat day and that warm day to play outside with extra time.
